More than 10 years ago, the Port Authority introduced the Cargo and Commodity Information System (KIPIS), which ensures faster movement of cargo through Klaipėda Port. In the coming years, this system will be extended with new functionalities and integrated into the eFTI system, with funding from the European Union.

The European Commission has allocated 28.3 EUR million from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for the development of an international electronic freight information exchange system. Lithuania’s share of the total funding for this project is 1.5 million EUR.

During this project, additional functionalities will be developed in the system of cargo and goods transported through Klaipėda Port (KIPIS) managed by the Port Authority, which will enable its integration into the eFTI access point for international e-way bill information (freight transport data).

The project involves nine countries as partners (Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Austria, Portugal, Finland, Estonia and Lithuania) and will be implemented by 22 partners from the public and private sectors. Lithuania is represented by the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Klaipėda State Seaport Authority, the Transport Innovation Association and JSC Normalis Tech.

Duration of the project is 2023-2026. More information about the project: www.efti4eu.eu and in this presentation.
