Port Authority basketball players became tournament champions the third year in succession

 

This international sport event that has already become a good tradition was launched in Tallinn in 2003 under the initiative of the Tallinn Port Authority. The basketball teams that fought in the first tournament were from Riga, Tallinn, Ventspils, Liepaja, Muga and Klaipeda Ports. During this very first tournament the challenger cup was established. 

This tournament has become very popular and is being held annually in different Baltic Sea Ports. It is a good chance both to fight in a sport field and to present and promote Klaipėda Port. This year the basketball tournament of the Baltic Ports was organized in Ventspils.

Teams from four countries (6 ports) participated in this Baltic Port tournament: the team from Tallinn(Estonia), teams from Ventspils , Riga and Liepaja ( Latvia), the team from Kaliningrad (Russia) and the team from Klaipėda(Lithuania).

Klaipėda Port Authority basketball team representing Klaipėda Port is a multitude winner of this tournament – 6 times it won the challenger cup throughout the total history of this tournament. This year the basketball players from Klaipėda Port Authority won the cup the third year in success and therefore from now the cup will remain forever among other honourable sport awards of Klaipėda State Seaport Authority.

 

 

In 2011 the Baltic Ports‘ basketball tournament will be held in Riga. The basketball team of this port will acquire the new challenger cup of this tournament.
