Increased October cargo handling turnover noticeably decreased the difference of Klaipeda Port cargo turnover of 2009 comparing it with January – October of 2008

Under preliminary data nearly +10,3 percent more cargo was handled in Klaipeda Port in October 2009 than during October of the last year: in October, 2009 – 2,36 million tons, in October 2008 – 2,14 million tons.
Klaipeda Port cargo handling results that have started improving already from the middle of the year, especially in October, decreased the difference of cargo turnover in 2009 and in 2008.
The difference of cargo handling results in Klaipeda Port, if to compare with 2008:
- the I half of the year -18,0 percent,
- after three quarters -13,1 percent,
- in January – October decreased up to – 11,1 percent.
Bulk cargo handling that improved by 2,1 times (859,1 thousand tons were handled in October of 2009 and in October of 2008 – 280,7 thousand tons, the change was + 308,4 thousand tons) and oil product handling increased by +19,6 percent (597,1 thousand tons were handled in October of 2009 and 499,2 thousand tons were handled in October of 2008, the change was +97,8 thousand tons) times were the decisive factor for October cargo handling results if to compare with October of the last year.
