Incident near Quay 80 of UAB Klaipeda Passenger and Cargo Terminal

On the morning of 25 July 2008 the port dispatcher office received report of the incident of rupture of oil supply hose as a result of which oil products leaked into the harbour water during loading of oil products onto the motor vessel “Fjordtank” (in the territory of UAB Klaipeda Passenger and Cargo Terminal) in the harbour near Quay No. 80.
Spills of oil products spread near quays No. 80-81 and in the western part of the harbour waters in the vicinity of the New Smiltyne ferry terminal.
Operations of oil spill recovery are underway at the moment. The operations are carried out by the vessel “Sanitaras-13” of the company UAB Klaipeda Passenger and Cargo Terminal and specialists of the Department of oil recovery and underwater operations of the Port Authority. The event was reported to the specialists of the Maritime Environmental Protection.
