Incident in the port

On 22 August 2008 (Friday), 15:20 p.m., a seaman was injured on board the soil barge “Viljet” standing by the operating dredger “Kategatas” in the port.
On 22 August 2008 (Friday), 15:20 p.m., a seaman was injured on board the soil barge “Viljet” standing by the operating dredger “Kategatas” in the port. The incident occurred when the aft anchor rope of the dredger emerged abruptly from underneath the bow of the barge, which knocked the nearby working seamen in the neck after sliding through the bulwark of the barge fore. The injured was transferred to the Cruise Terminal (quay 27) and handed over to the first aid personnel. Unfortunately, the seaman died on the way to hospital.
The causes of the incident are examined by the Seaport Police of Klaipeda City Chief Police Commissariat.
