ESPO General Assembly

General Assembly EUROPEAN SEA PORTS ORGANISATION (ESPO) took place in Riga (Latvia) on the 6th –7th of November 2003.
            The Assembly was divided into two parts, the first of which was dedicated to the members preparing to join European Union in 2004.
            The participants of ESPO got acquainted to the management structure, member rights, and activity in the institutions of European Union as well as possibilities to represent the interests of mother – country through ESPO organization.
            In the second part, the relevant questions concerning ESPO policy were discussed, namely, actions of European ports from the 1st of July 2004 (at the threshold of ISPS Code coming into force) and the future of the policy of the European Union ports.
            The other ESPO General assembly date is set on the 17th – 18th of June 2004, the agenda is already approved as well as new members of General Assembly, namely, Sigitas Dobilinskas, Director General of Klaipeda state seaport authority, Vladas Sturys, Director for strategy and Viktoras Lukosevicius, Harbour Master.
