Cruise navigation season 2013 in Klaipeda Seaport is to be launched this Saturday
This year cruise navigation season 2013 will start a weak earlier than in the previous year and will be opened by the impressive Concordia – class cruise liner „Costa Pacifica“ who is to arrive to Klaipėda Seaport in the early morning on the 4th of May of 2013.
Cruise ship „Costa Pacifica“ is 290,2 metres in length, 35,5 metres in beam and her draught is 8,3 metres. The capacity of the ship is 3700 passengers and 1100 crew members.
The parameters of „ Costa Pacifica“ are nearly the same as the parameters of the cruiser „Constellation“(294,13 metres in length), the Millenium – class ship with record parameters that had ever called the Seaport of Klaipėda.
This year „Costa Pacifica“ will enter the Seaport of Klaipėda even 7 times. The ship is operated by JSC „ Limarko Maritime Agency“ , services to the ship passengers are rendered by JSC „ Krantas Travel“. This Saturday 2700 passengers will be on board of the ship, half of them have already ordered excursions around Klaipėda region.
Official delegation encompassing the Harbour Master Adomas Alekna, Marketing and Development Director Arturas Drungilas of KSSA and the Mayor of Klaipeda Vytautas Grubliauskas will have the possibility to visit the ship „ Costa Pacifica“. Seeking to enhance the role of Lithuanian State Department while promoting maritime tourism in the region and preparing and implementing the joint marketing projects Dr. Raimonda Balniene, director general of Lithuanian State Department of Tourism, will get involved in the opening of the cruise season in Klaipėda. She will be among the quests invited to visit the ship „ Costa Specifica“ and will get acquainted with the development of cruise navigation.
Pursuant to registration data the calls of 44 cruise liners, including 7 large liners ( 200 metres in length), to the Seaport of Lithuania have been scheduled in 2013. Four cruise liners will drop anchor in our Port for the first time: „Ocean Majesty“, „Vision of the seas“, „Silver Whisper“ and „Thomson Spirit“. The latter will be the first ship operated under charter by the United Kingdom-based Thomson Cruises calling the Seaport of Klaipėda.
