Visit of the Members of Parliament of Lithuania and Latvia to the Port of Klaipėda

The meeting of the Committee of Law and Security Affairs of the Baltic Assembly is taking place in Palanga on 26^th– 27^th May 2005, main topic being ‘‘Assurance of the Security of Maritime and Air Ports“.

 

In consideration thereto, today, on 26^th May 2005, a delegation of the participants of the committee is visiting the port of Klaipėda.

 

Head of the delegation is member of the Parliament of the Republic of Latvijas Mihails Pietkevičs, members of the delegation are also members of the Parliament Valērijs Agešins, Sarmīte Ķikuste as well as an expert in aviation Janis Palms.

 

Lithuanian delegation, comprising of the Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, State Boarder Safeguarding Service at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Customs Department and State Security Department of the Republic of Lithuania, is led by the member of the Parliament Raimondas Šukys.

 

Presentation of the port is going to be made at the port authority to the representatives of Latvia and the Lithuanian official delegation and later a sightseeing and informative trip on boat in the waters of the port of Klaipėda.
