Nov 26 2010

On the 26 of November, 2010 the Minister of Transport and Communications Eligijus Masiulis and general Duncan J. McNabb, the current Commander, U.S. Transportation Command, discussed the pending transportation of USA military cargo to Afghanistan via Klaipėda State Seaport.

„Successful result of bilateral negotiations between Lithuania and the USA prove that Lithuanian  transport and logistics sector renders high quality services“ – told the Minister of Transport.

E. Masiulis emphasized that the decision of the USA to transport cargoes via Lithuania means additional income to Klaipėda Port, „Lietuvos geležinkeliai“ and other transport undertakings of the country.

The major part of transportation services our country is exporting to the Western Europe, Belarus, Russia, the Ukraine and Kazakhstan. We have a highly developed communication by railway transport with these countries; the park of auto transporters of Lithuania is one of the largest in Europe and operators have a deep experience in their work with Eastern markets and are able to provide qualified services.

„During the first half of 2010 the volume of the export of transport services increased even by 20 percent if to compare with the corresponding period of 2009. This is the evident that our efforts even in the period of economic recession generate good results“ – told the Minister of Transport.
