SE Klaipėda State Seaport Authority will transfer the cutter „Audra“ to Klaipėda Police

Following the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania No 1044 of 24 October 2006, SE Klaipėda State Seaport Authority will transfer the pilot-rescue cutter „Audra“ to Klaipeda City Police Headquarters.
Cutter „Audra“will be used for the fulfilment of police functions in Klaipėda port: to maintain public order, prevent and investigate violence of administrative law or criminal acts. At the moment the amendments of the law are under preparation and they will enable the police officers to control the observance of inland waterways navigations rules and also the navigation regulations of SE Klaipėda State Seaport.
By the Decree No 490 of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania of 30-04-2001 there was approved the Integrated Port Facility Security Plan of Klaipėda State Seaport, where there are foreseen for Klaipėda City Police Headquarters Maritime Police Department the functions to prevent and investigate violence of administrative law and criminal acts in the port territory and port waters. According to ISPS Code the Police must patrol in port waters assuring the security if ships and terminals from water side. Up till now the Police had no ship to fulfil those duties.
Representatives of mass media are kindly invited to come to SE Klaipėda State Seaport Authority Conference hall on 16 November 2006 (Thursday) at 2 o’clock p.m. (J.Janonio g. 24, Klaipėda), where the Taking – over Act of the cutter is going to be signed.
