Presenattion of final report of feasibility study “Assurance of proper interface of Klaipėda railway junction with port terminals and development of the capacities of terminals”

On 1 July 2010, a joint meeting of the technical board of the Seaport Authority and SC Lithuanian Railways was held at the domicile of SC Lithuanian Railways (Mindaugo str. 12 / 14, office 217, Vilnius), whereat the final report on the feasibility study Assurance of proper interface of Klaipėda railway junction with port terminals and balanced development of the capacities of terminals (their infrastructure), preparation of application for EU support and tender documents was discussed. Infrastructure and Development Director Vidas Karolis, Senior Project Manager for Port Railroads of the Maintenance Department Žilvinas Jucevičius and Project Manager of the Development Department Iveta Paulauskienė also attended the present meeting.
 
The feasibility study Assurance of proper interface of Klaipėda railway junction with port terminals and balanced development of the capacities of terminals (their infrastructure), application for EU support and tender documents were prepared byconsortium created on the basis of joint activities consisting of “Nacionalinių projektų rengimas“ Ltd., “Miestprojektas“ PLC (currently – “COWI Lietuva“ Ltd.) and “Strateginiai transporto sprendimai“ Ltd.
 
Specific objectives of the agreement undersigned between the Seaport Authority and the aforementioned consortium – to establish volumes of handling at the port companies and cargo transportation via “Lithuanian railways“ PLC for the period of 30 years, analyze the state of infrastructure and capacities of the seaport terminals and railways, also, to prepare an application draft(s) for most economically advantageous and acceptable technical/design solution in order to receive funding from the EU fund and prepare a procurement plan and I stage procurement documents according to the requirements of the Law on Public Procurement of the Republic of Lithuania and according to the requirements applicable in order to receive funding from the proposed EU fund.
