Norwegian cruise ship Nord Norge is the one to come earliest this year to the port of Klaipėda.

 

First cruise ship of this season Norwegian liner Nord Norge enters the port of Klaipėda on 14 April 2005 (tomorrow) at 7:00 pm and it berths at the berth of the cruise terminal at about 7.30-8.00 pm. This year the first cruise ship comes to the port of Klaipėda unusually early.  

 

The ship is going to be met at the Cruise ships’ terminal by representatives of Klaipėda State Seaport Authority, Municipality of Klaipėda, Centre of Tourism and Information as well as by representatives of other authorities of the port and the city concerned with cruise shipping activities.

 

The meeting ceremony at 7:30 – 8:00 pm is going to be started by the Orchestra of Naval Military Forces. Official visit on board the ship is planned at around 10:00 pm, when greeting speeches are going to be made and the sign of Klaipėda port cruise is going to be presented.

 

Cruise ships’ terminal is going to present kind improvements to the passengers of the liners this year, such as taxi services, newly installed telephone facility, post box and mobile cart of the Centre of Tourism and Information, where all kinds of information (visual maps, plans, brochures, telephone cards) could be obtained. This year it is also planned to install the small bank facility, to build the internet sitting room and a cafe house near the berthing place of the ship.

 

The length of the cruise ship Nord Norge  is 123,3 metres, its width is 19,5 metres and its draught is 4,9 m. 389 tourists from Norway are coming to Klaipėda on board the ship. The ship’s administration is of the Norwegian origin. Nationalities of other personnel are more diverse – Chilli, the Philippines, Germans. The first cruise ship to come to the port of Klaipėda is led by Captain Skjoldvaer Kjell. Maritime agency is SC Wm.H. Muller Ltd.

 

Keeping to the traditions, the official opening ceremony of the cruise shipping season is planned for the beginning of May.

 

All media people are hereby informed on the possibility to observe the meeting of the first cruise ship, which will take place on 14th April 2005 at 7:30 – 8:00 am at the Cruise Ships’ Terminal. The bridge will be opened all the time of ship’s standing at the berth, e.g. till 1 pm.
