Nearly 6000 Klaipeda citizens and quests of Klaipeda got acquainted with Klaipėda Port
Within the period of May – September 2013 the Port Authority the sixth year successively organized the cycle of free sight – seeing educational excursions „Lets get acquainted with Klaipėda Seaport“. Totally nearly 30 excursions onboard of the boat „Venus“ have been organized the current year and nearly 6000 Klaipeda citizens and quests got acquainted with Klaipeda Port activity.
The event „Lets get acquainted with Klaipėda Seaport“ has been organized for the sixth time already. By this remarkable idea the Port Authority supports the proposal of European Commission submitted in 2008 to organize „open door days“ in the ports in such a way disseminating information to society about port activities.
We express our gratitude to all participants in this extremely popular event „Lets get acquainted with Klaipėda Seaport“ initiated by Port Authority, the key goal of which is to directly and apparently to present the activity of Klaipėda Port, its possibilities and perspectives, to reveal economic – social benefits received from maritime industry, particularity of work and activity of marine communities, to increase the accessibility to Port territories to society and to contribute to of consolidation of Klaipėda citizens and maritime community. Dispersion of information about Port to society helps to form the image of Klaipėda and Lithuania as a maritime state and performs educational function.
Totally nearly 30 excursions onboard of the boat „Venus“ have been organized within the period of May – September of the current year and nearly 6000 Klaipeda citizens and quests got acquainted with Port activity (if to compare with 2009 the number of people was only 2000). It was calculated that the Port Authority allocated 6.05 lt. per person participating in this event.
During 1 hour educational sight – seeing excursion onboard of the boat „Venus“ round the Port waters‘ territory Klaipėda citizens and quests were provided the possibility to examine port terminals and to listen to information about the Port submitted by the employee of Port Authority. People participating in the event that gave the right answers to the questions received Klaipėda Port souvenirs.
While organizing such kind of events the Port Authority constantly evaluates their efficiency and mass scale in particular, analyses the assessment and requests of the participants. The exclusiveness of this event is the possibility to visit the Port and to listen to presentation and to receive answers to vital questions about Port development and expansion.
The Port Authority is planning to organize the event „Lets get acquainted with Klaipėda Seaport“ the coming year as well.
