On 20 May 2010 the Seaport Authority together with LKAB “Klaipėdos Smeltė“ organized joint training Emergency/rescue actions in case of act of terrorism and chemical contamination.
Aims of the present training – to check compatibility of joint actions between LKAB “Klaipėdos Smeltė“ and Klaipėda State Seaport Authority, by reacting at the chemical incident which took place within the port territory; to check the readiness of civil protection units to act in emergency situations; to improve compatibility of actions of Emergency situation management centre (ESMC) and civil protection (CP) units; to check the readiness to properly react to and liquidate the results of acts of terrorism.
Members of the ESMC of the Klaipėda State Seaport Authority, Port Supervision and Rescue Service, Fleet department, Port Hydrographic Department, Civil protection units of the Seaport Authority, LKAB “Klaipėdos Smeltė“ forces, naval forces of the Ministry of National Defence, Lithuanian Police Anti-terrorist Operations Force “Aras“ participated in the aforementioned civil training. The training was lead by the Head of the ESMC of the Seaport Authority, Head of the Port Security Alvydas Jocys and Head-protection officer of LKAB “Klaipėdos Smeltė“ Emergency situation management group (ESMG) Rašidas Deimantas, and the training was evaluated by the specialists of the civil protection department of the Department of Economics of Klaipėda city municipality.
