CARGO HANDLING IN KLAIPĖDA PORT
October of 2011
The record volume of sea – born cargo, i.e. even 3,29 million tons that is more by 15,6 percent if to compare with the corresponding period of 2010 was handled in Klaipėda Port in October of 2011. In line the Port has set the Ro-Ro cargo handling record with the turnover of 23 870 units in October.
805,3 thousand tons of oil were transhipped via Būtinges Terminal in October of the current year.

Dry and bulk cargoes increased by +29,1 pct., totally 1 379,2 thousand tons were handled.
Liquefied cargoes increased by +9,8 pct., totally 957,4 thousand tons were handled
General cargoes increased by +5,3 pct., totally 954,8 thousand tons were handled.
The handling turnover of fertilizers in October of 2011 was 1 037,9 thousand tons, i.e. more by 26,6 percent or by 218,3 thousand tons comparing with the corresponding period of 2010. Handling volumes of oil products in October of 2011 made 789,4 thousand tons, the change is +8,0 percent or +58,4 thousand tons. 453,6 thousand tons of Ro-Ro cargo,i.e. more by 13,9 percent or by 55,2 thousand tons comparing with thecorresponding period of the previous yearwere handled in October of 2011. Calculating in units 23 870 units of this cargo, i.e. more by 14,4 percent or by 3 001 units were handled comparing with October of the previous year. Volumes of containerised cargohandling (calculating in TEU) were 27 918 TEU, i.e. more by 0,4 percent or by 120 TEU thanduring the corresponding period of 2010. In terms of tonnage the turnover of containerised cargo handlingalso advanced. Calculating in tons the growth rate was1,4 percent or 4,6 thousand tons comparing with the corresponding period of 2010, in total 323,8 thousand tons were handled
Throughout October of this year 24 508 passengers, i.e. more by 16,9 percent, or by 3 550 passengers than during the corresponding month of 2010 visited Klaipėda Port.
770 vessels, i.e. less by 5,2 percent or by 42 vessels comparing with the corresponding month of the previous year called Klaipėda port in October of 2011.
