CARGO HANDLING IN KLAIPĖDA PORT
January of 2012
In January of 2012 2,88 million tons of sea – born cargo, i.e. less by 297,4 thousand tons or by 9,4 percent if to compare with the corresponding period of 2011 was handled in Klaipėda 800,3 thousand tons of oil were imported via Būtinges Terminal in January of the current year.

According to cargo groups in January
Liquefied cargoes increased by +2,4 pct., totally 1 025,2 thousand tons were handled
Dry and bulk cargoes decreased by -20,5 pct., totally 1 001,0 thousand tons were handled.
General cargoes decreased by -7,0 pct., totally 851,9 thousand tons were handled.
Handling volumes of oil products in January of 2012 were 839,8 thousand tons, the change is – 3,8 percent or less by 32,7 thousand tons comparing with the corresponding period of 2011.
The handling turnover of fertilizers in January of 2012 was 833,9 thousand tons, i.e. less by 18,5 percent or by 189,4 thousand tons comparing with the corresponding period of 2011.
350,8 thousand tons of Ro-Ro cargo,i.e. less by 12,3 percent or by 49,3 thousand tons comparing with thecorresponding period of the previous yearwere handled in January of 2012. Calculating in units 19 008 units of this cargo, i.e. less by 7,6 percent or by 1 572 units were handled comparing with January of the previous year. Volumes of containerised cargohandling (calculating in TEU) were 27 555 TEU, i.e. less by 0,5 percent or by 131 TEU thanduring the corresponding period of 2011. In terms of tonnage the turnover of containerised cargo handlingadvanced. Calculating in tons the growth rate was1,7 percent or 5,3 thousand tons comparing with the corresponding period of 2011, in total 322,5 thousand tons were handled
Throughout January of this year 19 772 passengers, i.e. less by 0,1 percent, or by 11 passengers than during the corresponding month of 2011 visited Klaipėda Port.
555 vessels were registered in the Port of Klaipėda in January of 2012. The number of the vessels was the same as during the corresponding period of 2011.
