Kaleidoscope of Sea Festival events
The Sea Festival has always been and remains the most colourful and exceptional by the diversity of its events festival. Representatives of Port Authority took active participation in the abundance of the Sea Festival events.
On the 25th of July, 2013 (Thursday) the ceremony of honouring of the seafarers and the raise of flags at the monument „Albatross“ in Smiltyne gave the start to the marathon of the Sea Festival events.
This attractive event has solemnized the departed and lost at sea Lithuanian seafarers. During this solemn ceremony the representatives of the marine community laid flowers at the pedestal of the monument „Albatross“ dedicated „To Those Departed and Lost at Sea” in honour of lost at sea seafarers, expressing their respect to people related with the sea and not indifferent to it.

On the 23d of July, 2013 (Friday) The staff of Port Authority participated in the theatrical parade of the employees of maritime and stevedoring companies „The Sea Festival arrives to the town“.
On the 26th of July, 2013 (Friday) During the opening ceremony of the Sea Festival specialists with continuous work experience in maritime sector of not less than 10 years and for impeccable work in maritime transport sphere were honoured. The Minister of Transport of the Republic of Lithuania Rimantas Sinkevičius awarded the honorary awards (chest badges) assigned to workers of maritime transport of the Republic of Lithuania. The Chief Inspector of Port Control Service Juozas Saudargas, the deputy head of the Marketing Department Silvija Jonkuviene and the Senior Operator of Vessel Traffic Service Kęstutis Šimonis of the Port Authority received these awards.
On the 26th of July, 2013 (Friday) During the opening ceremony of the Sea Festival the Honorary Awards of the Port Authority to specialists with continuous work experience in maritime sector of not less than 10 years and for merits in cherishing and enhancing the activity of Port Authority and its image were awarded to the Chief Pilot of Vessel Traffic Service Vaclovas Eitutis and to the ex-Chief Pilot of Vessel Traffic Service Michail Šachorostov.
On the 27th of July, 2013 (Saturday) representatives of marine community and Klaipėda city authorities honoured the lost at sea crew of the sunken ship „Linkuva“. They laid flowers at the monument.

The ceremony of wreath laying at the Baltic Sea in the memory of lost at sea seafarers took place on the 27th of July, 2013 (Saturday).

On the 27th of July, 2013 (Saturday). For the third year successively the Port Authority organized the recreational event to Klaipėda citizens and quests – „Dragon Boat Racing“ to win the cup of Port Authority. This event raised the great interest and activity of the paddlers and complemented and added variety to the Sea Festival. The race took place in the Danės river starting from Jonas Hill to the Castle Bridge. The length of the route was 600 metres, and even 28 teams covered this distance. The team „Žvelsiniai“ were the winners of Port Authority cup this year.
