CARGO HANDLING IN KLAIPĖDA PORT
August of 2011
3,00 million tons of sea – born cargo, i.e. more 17,1 percent if to compare with the corresponding period of 2010, were handled in Klaipėda Port in August of 2011. In August of this year Klaipėda Port has set a record result in handling of fertilisers – 1 154,5 thousand tons of fertilizers were handled throughout a month. 801,5 thousand tons of oil were transhipped via Būtinges Terminal in August of 2011.

Dry and bulk cargoes increased by +32,4 pct., totally 1 272,0 thousand tons were handled.
Liquefied cargoes increased by +19,6 pct., totally 880,9 thousand tons were handled
According to cargo groups in August:
General cargoes decreased by -2,0 pct., totally 848,0 thousand tons were handled.
Handling turnover of fertilizers in August of 2011 made 1 154,5 thousand tons, i,.e. more by 65,1 percent or by 455,2 thousand tons comparing with the corresponding period of 2010. Handling volumes of oil products in August of 2011 made 681,7 thousand tons, the change is -4,2 percent or -29,7 thousand tons. 390,3 thousand tons of Ro-Ro cargo,i.e. more by 4,2 percent, or by 15,8 thousand tons comparing with thecorresponding period of the previous yearwere handled in August of 2011. Calculating in units 22 861 units of this cargo, i.e. more by 3,9 percent or by 852 units were handled comparing with August of the previous year. Volumes of containerised cargohandling (calculating in TEU) were 26 849 TEU, i.e. more by 13,2 percent or by 3 131 TEU thanduring the corresponding period of 2010. In terms of tonnage the turnover of containerised cargo handlingalso advanced. Calculating in tons the growth rate was1,2 percent or 3,7 thousand tons, in total 316,3 thousand tons were handled comparing with the corresponding period of 2010.
Throughout August of this year 40 878 passengers, i.e. less by 14,0 percent, or by 6 647 passengers than during the corresponding month of 2010 visited Klaipėda Port. In August of this year 4 964 cruise passengers, i.e. less by 3 651 cruise passengers or by 42,4 percent comparing with the corresponding period of 2010 called Klaipeda Port.
527 vessels, i.e. more by 6,2 percent or by 35 vessels comparing with the corresponding month of the previous year called Klaipėda port in August of 2011.
