Hereby we invite press people to attend the press conference to be held on 26th May 2005 at 1.30 -2 pm in Klaipėda Concert Hall at the address Šaulių g. 36, where the meeting of the working groups of the Baltic Cruise Project will take place. Ms. Elisabeth Milton Hemmingsen, the director of the Baltic Cruise Project, is going to lead the meeting.
Representatives from 24 different countries, who are working in the cruise business, are going to participate in this meeting as well as specialists of official and private enterprises, involved in promotion of cruise business in Baltic Region.
Klaipėda is going to be represented by Ms. Lina Gudelionytė-Gylienė, Head of Marketing Unit of Klaipėda State Seaport Authority, and Ms. Ina Šidlauskienė, Specialist of International Affairs and Tourism of the Municipality of Klaipėda.
Among the strategic tasks of the Baltic Cruise Project, it is foreseen to strengthen the conditions for development of cruise tourism, to create basis for the Baltic Region to become attractive and recognizable sign in the international cruise market, to spread the information on the Baltic Region as of an attractive object for high class cruise tourism and also to strengthen the marketing campaigns of the cruise sector in the Baltic Region by creating a general marketing plan.
While seeking these goals a sign of the Baltic Region Cruises has already been created, experience in cruise business in different countries is shared and also it is planned to create new transactional products. It is expected that after the successful implementation of the foreseen plans, the Baltic Region’s part in the worldwide cruise market might increase from 4% till 8% – 12%.
