Oil spill combating exercise BALEX DELTA 2005

In August 31 – September 1, 2005 international oil spill combating exercise BALEX DELTA 2005 will start in the Baltic Sea near Karlscrona, Sweden.
 
Representatives from the Baltic States will participate in this exercise, Lithuania to be presented by a SE Klaipeda State Seaport Authority rescue vessel “Sakiai”. During this exercise response actions during oil spill at sea will be coordinated among representatives of different states.
 
The effectiveness of alarm procedure, response forces and reaction time of contracting sides is to be tested; exercises among the crews of rescue vessels are to be held.
 
The goal of this exercise is to test the reaction time and oil spill combating effectiveness of all the participants. Furthermore, all the participants will share information concerning the most updated oil spill combating at sea technologies and equipment.
 
The Helsinki Convention BALEX DELTA 2005 emergency exercise is being organized by the Swedish Coastal Guard Service.  The exercise is carried out complying with the decision of the Helsinki Convention Sea Pollution Work Group meeting.
