During January-May 2007 10,86 million tons of cargo was handled in Klaipėda port. It is by 13,6 percent more than during the same period of 2006.
During January-May 2007 the handling volumes of general and liquid cargo grew most rapidly and the handling volumes of bulk cargo decreased by 1,5 percent.

During May 2007 cargo handling volumes increased by one fifth (2,29 million t of cargo was handled) comparing to 2006. It is the biggest monthly growth during the whole history of independent Lithuania.
The growth of liquid cargo volume was predetermined by the growth of oil products handling (during January-May 2006 3,0 million t was handled, during January-May 2007 – 3,4 million t, change+11,0 percent). The handling volumes of liquid fertilizers increased by 29 percent, but it made only a small part of the total volume of liquid cargo (from the point of view of tonnage). Comparing to last year there increased handling of packed fertilizers (1,9 times), bulk fertilizers (+44,5 percent), cold cargo (+46,8 percent), peat (+35,1 percent), iron and steel products (+19,8 percent), oil products (+11,0 percent) as well as ro-ro units handling increased by 21,2 percent (from the point of view of tonnage) and container handling by 46,1 percent (from the point of view of tonnage). There decreased handling of raw sugar by 74,5 percent, agricultural products by 66,0 percent, molasses by 59,7 percent, alloys by 37,5 percent and minerals by 18,9 percent in Klaipėda port.
Container handling increased by 40 percent and ro-ro units – by 18 percent. Increase of ro-ro units handling was predetermined by the growth of the number of auto-trailers, trailers, automobiles and trucks handling in Klaipėda port.
During the first five years of 2007 the number of passengers served in the port increased by 30 percent and made 82,3 thousand. In May 20 cruise shipping season started in Klaipėda port – there called the first cruise vessel. During May 10 cruise vessels called Klaipeda port with 5,2 thousand passengers.

According to cargo handling volumes Klaipėda port remains in the fifth place in the eastern Baltic ports market lagging behind Riga port.

During January-May 2007 18,71 million tons of cargo was handled in Tallinn port(+9,5 percent change in comparison with the same period 2006). According to the type of cargo the volumes of bulk and dry bulk cargo increased by 20,1 percent or by 932 thousand t, general cargo by 8,6 percent or by 168 thous.t and liquid cargo by 5 percent or by 524 thous.t. Liquid cargo made the biggest part in the cargo structure of Tallinn port i.e. 58,9 percent.
During January-May 2007 1315 cargo ships called Tallinn port and during the same period 2006 – 1300 ships (change +1,2 percent) .
During January-May 2007 13,24 million tons of cargo was handled in Ventspils port and during the same period of 2006 – 12,32 million tons. There grew the handling volumes of all types of cargo: liquid cargo handling +6,5 percent or 8,24 million t, bulk and dry bulk +13,2 percent or 3,93 million t, general cargo +4 percent or 1,07 million t. According to the types of cargo there increased handling volumes of crude oil (+967 thous. t), grain (+132 thous. t) and raw sugar (+53 thous. t) in Ventspils port. During January-May 2006 249 thousand t of crude oil was handled in Ventspils port. The main transit cargo – oil products and bulk fertilizers – handling was the following: oil products handling in 2007 – 6,83 million t (-2,2 percent), bulk fertilizers – 1,63 million t (+46,7 percent).
During January-May 2007 68 thousand t of containerized cargo was handled in Ventspils port (last year- 68 thous. t of containerized cargo and 14,7 thousand passengers were served (by 23,6 percent more than in 2006).
10,34 million t of cargo was handled in Riga port During January-May 2007 i.e. by 3,1 percent less than last year. There decreased handling of bulk and dry bulk cargo. The biggest part of cargo, more than 5,96 million t, made bulk and dry bulk cargo, and their volume made –11,1 percent or by 744 thousand t less than during January-May 2006. Bulk fertilizers made +170 thousand t or by 28,3 percent more than last year. Coal handling decreased by 16,2 percent or to 4,07 million t and made 39,3 percent of the total cargo handling volume.
2,27 million t of general cargo was handled in Riga port (by 8,9 percent more than during the same period last year. According to the type of general cargo timber made -1,3 percent or 745 thousand t (+15,9 percent). The volumes of liquid cargo increased by 11,9 percent during January-May 2007, and during the same period 2006 it made 2,09 million t.
During the first five months of this year 103,7 thousand passengers were serve din Riga port and during the same period 2006 there were 43,6 thousand (increased by 2,4 times).
