During January-July 2007 15,65 million tons of cargo was handled in Klaipėda port. It is by 14,4 percent more than during the same period last year.
The biggest growth during January-July 2007 was reached in handling bulk fertilizers (+53,5 percent),cold products (+30,6 percent) and container units (+41,9 percent) comparing to January-July 2006.
During July 2007 cargo handling increased by one third (2,52 million t of cargo), in comparison with 2006 (the biggest monthly cargo handling during the whole history of independent Klaipeda port, Lithuania).

During January-July 2007 there grew the handling volumes of all types of cargo (general, bulk, dry bulk and liquid cargo).
The growth of liquid cargo was predetermined by the growth of the handling volumes of liquid fertilizers (0,62 million tons was handled during January-July 2006 and during January-July 2007 – 0,85 million tons; change +37,2 percent). Oil products handling remained in the level of last year (during the first seven months 4,6 million tons was handled).
Handling volumes of bulk fertilizers and peat increased by 53,5 percent and 37,8 percent respectively. More than 2,85 million tons of fertilizers was handled (it is the second result after oil products handling). During the last months there is observed the increase of handling volumes of other bulk cargo (agricultural products, scrap metal).
Container handling increased by 42 percent and ro-ro units – by 15 percent. The increase of ro-ro units was predetermined by the growth of handling volumes of auto-trailers, trailers, automobiles and trucks in Klaipėda port. During July 2007 21,7 thousand ro-ro units was handled in Klaipėda port (The biggest monthly handling volume in 2007).
During the first seven months of this year the total number of passengers served by perries increased by 25 percent and made 161,7 thousand. During the second summer month there came almost 44,7 thousand passengers to the port (the biggest figure during 2007).
During May-July cruise vessels called Klaipėda port 44 times; they brought 20,3 thousand passengers(by 44 percent more comparing to 2006).
Būtingė terminal handled 2,9 million tons of crude oil during January-July 2007 (the total handling volume decreased by 3,3 percent in comparison with 2006).
