Port Authority will take part in the exhibition of information and communications technologies „INFOBALT 2007“

In October 25 – 27 2007 SE Klaipėda State Seaport Authority will take part in the 14th international exhibition of information and communications technologies „INFOBALT 2007“, which is going to take place in Lithuanian exhibition centre „Litexpo“ (Laisvės av. 5, Vilnius).
During the only exhibition of information and communications technologies in the Baltic States, the latest technologies, achievements, goods and services in this field will be presented to the visitors. During the exhibition the conference will also take place, which is going to give knowledge in the field of information and communications technologies and will also help the visitors and participants in making business contacts with Lithuanian and foreign partners.
SE Klaipėda State Seaport Authority will present two sets of software: system KIPIS – „Information system of cargo and goods transported via Klaipėda State Seaport“ and Ship information system (LIS) extension Geo-information systems functionality (GIS).
It is expected that KIPIS system will be started in II quarter of 2008 in Klaipėda port. It will accelerate cargo movement via the port, increase compatibility advantages of the port, and facilitate the work of ship agents and forwarders. Besides, KIPIS system will ensure the possibility of electronic data interchange for the companies working in the port.
The extension of existing Ship information system (LIS) by Geo-information system functionality i.e. creation of GIS modulus, which is going to start operations even this year, will allow for the port offices to permanently observe the traffic of ships in the port and its approaches in a display and in this way sustainable and safe navigation will be assured in the port
