11 months of 2007 cargo turnover in Klaipėda Port is by 1,3 million t bigger than during all year turnover of 2006

 

Cargo turnover of 11 months of 2007 exceeded the turnover of the whole year 2006 (23,6 million  t).

During January-November 2007 24,9 million tons of cargo was handled in Klaipėda Port. It is by 15,7 percent more comparing to the same period 2006. 

The biggest growing rates during January-November 2007 were reached in handling agricultural products + 58 percent, forestry products +  , containers  +46,3 percent (from the point of view of tonnage) and bulk fertilizers +37,3 percent in comparison with the same period 2006. The biggest growth of handling volumes from the point of view of tonnage was predetermined by the growth of handling volumes of bulk fertilizers (during 11 months of this year 4,8 million tons was handled or by 1,3 million tons more), agricultural products (during 11 months of this year 1,1  million tons was handled or by 407 thousand tons more), forestry products (during 11 months of this year 780 thousand tons was handled or by 259 thousand tons more) in Klaipėda Port. 6,55 million tons of oil was handled (by 3,7 percent more).

Container handling increased by 40,4 percent (in  TEU), and ro-ro units – by 7,8 percent.    During eleven months of this year the total number of passengers serve din the port increased by 19,8 percent and made 271,1 thousand.

 

 

Cargo handling volumes during November 2007 decreased by 1,5 percent (2,04 million  t was handled) comparing to November 2006.

Liquid cargo volumes decreased by 16,8 percent and it was predetermined by the decrease of handling volumes of oil product – by 10 percent less (during November 2006, 493 thousand t was handled, during November 2007 – 446 thousand t), liquid fertilizers  – by 43 percent less(during November 2006, 155 thousand t, during November 2007 – 88 thousand t), molasses – 90 percent.

Though bulk fertilizer handling during November 2007 decreased comparing to November 2006 (during November 2006, 448 thousand t was handled, during November 2007 – 343 thousand t, by -23,3 percent less), the total handling volume of bulk and dry bulk cargo increased by 13,1 percent. Such a growth was reached due to significant growth of agricultural products handling, by 3,3 times more.

During November 2007 general cargo handling volumes remained of the level of November 2006.
