Incident at Quay No 118 at UAB „Klaipėdos hidrotechnika“ (2)

In January 21 2008 at about 7.30 a.m. port Dispatchers Office got information from the Dutch ship „Heron“, that at quay No 118 of the operator UAB „Klaipėdos hidrotechnika“, during pumping of diesel fuel from one cistern to the other part of it was spilt. This incident was made due to the fault of the crew.
Having received the above notice, Port Dispatchers Office sent rescue cuter „Žaibas“ to the place of incident the crew of which started collection of the spilt diesel fuel. Ship „Heron“ was immediately surrounded by booms.
After completion of the diesel fuel clean-up works, calculations showed that the net amount of collected diesel fuel is 2,1 tons.
