BSR INTERREG IV project “East-West Transport Corridor II” approved

On 9 June the Monitoring committee approved the project “East-West Transport Corridor II – a Green Corridor Concept within the Northern Transport Axis Approach“ within the framework of the Baltic Sea Region INTERREG IV programme for 2007-2013. Total value of the Project – approximately 6 million euros.
 
In 2006-2007 Seaport Authority as a partner participated in the project “East-West Transport Corridor“ of the Baltic Sea Region (BSR) within the framework of INTERREG III B neighbourhood programme; the project was acknowledged as the most successful project of this programme in the transport sector.
 
86 projects were submitted for the second call of the Baltic Sea Region programme for 2007-2013 to receive partial funding. At the moment the submitted projects are under evaluation.
On 9 June the Monitoring committee approved the project “East-West Transport Corridor II – a Green Corridor Concept within the Northern Transport Axis Approach“within the framework of the Baltic Sea Region INTERREG IV programme for 2007-2013. The aforementioned project involving 31 partners (the Seaport Authority also participates in this project as a partner), will continue for 2 years. Total value of the Project – approximately 6 million euros.
 
The objective of this continued project – to develop transport hubs, strengthen the concept of railway transportation, improve network of access roads, raise qualification of the staff, develop innovative environment of “Green“ corridor. The global aim  – to create East-West Transport Corridor as an effective “Green“ corridor corresponding to the needs for transportation of  increasing cargo flows.
                                                                                                            
Within the framework of the project, the Seaport Authority is planning to make technical design for construction of hydraulic ramp and to acquire DUKC – a real-time dynamic under keel clearance management systemdeveloped for calculation of waves, tides, currents and vessel dynamics in real time situations to produce the safest and most efficient transit of large ships in and out of ports in shallow or restricted-depth waterways.
