On 6 October, 2009 in Fecamp port, having cut a symbolic ribbon, a new 1000 sq.m. general cargo warehouse „Lietuva“ was solemly opened. The port of Fecamp port has an interesting tradition – newly opened warehouses are named under the names of various countries which the port is already cooperating or is going to cooperate with. There are already 12 such warehouses: „Sweden“, „Denmark“, „Austria“, „Norway“, „England“, „Greece“ etc.
The Ambassador of Lithuania in France Jolanta Balčiūnienė, the Minister Counsellor of the Embassy Lina Terra and Attaché for Commercial Affairs Rūta Šokaitienė took part in the solemn opening ceremony of the warehouse. The Head of Marketing Department of Port Authority Kristina Gontier also attended this ceremony.
During the ceremony, the Ambassador of Lithuania in France Jolanta Balčiūnienė expressed her wish that the opening of a new warehouse „Lietuva“ would contribute to further cooperation between ports of Klaipėda and Fecamp.
The delegation of abovementioned port made an introductory visit to Klaipėda port on 1 June 2009 with the aim to discuss the potential capacities for shipping of fertilizers through Klaipėda port.
The goals of this visit also included a discussion regarding possibilities to organize a regatta between France and the Baltic States. The preliminary date of this regatta is the year 2012.
