USA delegation demonstrated a great interest in the possibilities of Klaipeda Port

On the 29th of March, 2010 the USA Ambassador to Lithuania J. E. Anne Elizabeth Derse and delegation under the leadership of CDR Bill Zabicki, a representative of US TRANSCOM , visited Klaipėda State Seaport Authority. The goal of this visit was to learn about the possibilities of Klaipėda Port to transport non- military cargo designated to NATO ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) in Afghanistan.
The guests were received at the Port Authority by Arturas Drungilas, director for marketing and administration and the head of port security Alvydas Jocys. The discussed at this meeting theme related to possibilities of transformation of non military cargo designated to NATO ISAF operations in Afghanistan via Klaipėda Port was extremely relevant to the USA delegation.
Stevedoring companies „Klaipėdos Smeltė“, Klaipėda Container Terminal and „Klaipėdos jūrų krovinių kompanija“ participating at this meeting presented their activity, technology processes and systems of cargo transportation via the Port.
After the meeting delegation under the leadership of the USA Ambassador to Lithuania J. E. Anne Elizabeth Derse and CDR Bill Zabicki, a representative of US TRANSCOM paid visits to port operators that presented the capacities of their terminals.
